Started in 2001, the Dot NAME top-level domain is the only one supposed to be for personal sites only. These domain names can consist of personal or fictitious names, aliases and/or other designations people are famous by. At first, solely 3rd-level registrations were allowed, so if you planned to book john.doe.name, you had to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and second-level registrations were also permitted. Already acquired third-level domains remained functional.

You will have the opportunity to correct the WHOIS contact details, to park your domain, to set up Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an already registered domain to our firm if you acquire its EPP transfer authorization code from the current registrar and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been completed. There are no specific requirements on who can obtain a .NAME domain name, but in order to maintain the concept behind its establishment alive, the .NAME Registry may verify who the owner is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain, the registration may be challenged.
